For some time Chinese and other manufacturers have been selling non OE, untested Solid Flywheel conversion kits to replace Dual Mass Flywheel’s (DMF) and OESAA members LuK and ZF Sachs have had numerous failures reported related to these components some of which will be on display at the Autoinform Live event on the OESAA stand this weekend coming.
Malcolm Short says “We are surprised why Independents keep fitting these given the level of concern and felt there must be a serious degradation of driving comfort but had not experienced it. So we did the unthinkable, we took a late BMW (BMW were the first VM to use DMF) and converted it! We have two identical cars one with a Solid flywheel and one with a DMF and they will both be at the Autoinform event for delegates to experience the difference”.
